Body Lift, Long Island NY

Significant weight loss, whether through pregnancy, diet, exercise, or bariatric surgery, is oftentimes an emotional journey that frequently can leave people feeling discouraged because of the loose, excess skin that remains. A body lift can help remove excess skin (and sometimes remaining fat) from the upper legs and torso area.

Frequently Asked Questions About Body Lift Surgery

Who is an ideal candidate for a Body Lift?

  • People who want to improve excess skin in the stomach, hips, thighs, and/or buttocks
  • Non-Smokers
  • People in reasonably good health who have realistic expectations

What can I expect during surgery?

Dr. Lin and Dr. Cohen-Kashi perform body lift procedures in Long Island, NY. General anesthesia is used during surgery. The length of the surgery can vary depending on the areas being addressed, but, on average, the length can take anywhere between three to seven hours. The location of the incision will also vary from patient to patient, but Dr. Lin and Dr. Cohen-Kashi can discuss the ideal location during your consultation.

During the procedure, excess fat is removed and the underlying muscles are tightened. It’s also common to have liposuction performed simultaneously to help improve the overall body contour.

What can I expect during my recovery?

Immediately after surgery, you can expect some swelling and bruising, but pain is minimized and controlled with medication. It’s also common to have drainage tubes placed at the incision to remove any excess fluids. The drainage tubes are typically removed within one week after surgery. The entire recovery lasts between four to six weeks.
