What is a Neck Lift?

One of the first signs of facial aging is the loss of skin elasticity, which can cause the neck to sag, unsightly pockets of fat to form, and pronounced folds in the neck. It’s also common for these folds and excess fat deposits to lead to the appearance of a “double chin”. A neck lift (sometimes called a mini lift) can reverse these effects by improving the shape of the jowls (jawline), tightening the skin, and removing any excess fat pockets beneath the chin.

Ideal candidates for a neck lift include:

  • Women or men with loose or excessive skin around the neck caused by:
  • Significant weight loss
  • Aging or sun damage that has taken a toll on their physical appearance
  • Women or men who want to retain or restore a youthful, natural appearance to the lower portion of their face
  • Non-Smokers
  • People in reasonably good health who have realistic expectations
During your surgery, Dr. Lin and Dr. Cohen-Kashi, at Long Island’s North Shore Center for Plastic Surgery, will make a small incision behind the earlobe where they’ll tighten the underlying muscles and remove excess fat and skin.
Patients can expect to see some mild swelling, numbness, and bruising during their recovery process.
Patients can return home on the same day and recovery is relatively fast. Most patients are able to return to work within two weeks and final results are visible within 3 to 6 months as swelling subsides.
